The Third Basil Bunting Poetry Award 2011

The results of the award will be published on this web site after the awards ceremony, which will take place in Sedburgh, Cumbria on 22 September 2012.
After the awards the winners and those commended will be invited to submit 10 poems to Neil Astley, editor of Bloodaxe Books. Without obligation, Neil will respond to the poems submitted.
Eligibility
The award is open to anyone worldwide who is over 18 years of age on 9 September 2011.
Submission dates
Both postal and online entries must be received by 12 o'clock midnight GMT on 31 July 2012.
The Judge
The poems will be judged anonymously
Readers may be used to help the judge in choosing the shortlist
The judge's report will appear on the website after the awards ceremony
No correspondence will be entered into and the judge's decision will be final
The Poems
- The poems must be in English and not exceed 42 lines in length and must be the original work of the entrant.
- The poems must not have been published (which includes self publication, website or online publishing and broadcast) nor entered in any other competition prior to the date of the awards ceremony on 22 September 2012
Layout & submission
- Poems must be typed, single spaced and printed on one side of the page only
- Where possible, limit your poem to one sheet of paper
- No identifying marks must appear except for the title
- Postal entries should be printed on A4 size paper
- Each poem must be on a separate sheet
- Please do not staple sheets together - use a paperclip
- If you submit a postal entry, please keep your own copy as no poems will be returned
- Postal entries with incorrect or underpaid postage will not be collected so please make sure you pay the correct postage
Fees
- Fees are stated in sterling. The fee for the first poem is £8 and for any further poems £3 each.
- There is no limit on the number of poems you can submit.
- UK Postal entries can be paid by cheque drawn on a UK bank and made payable to The BB Poetry Award.
- Overseas postal entries must be paid in cash (notes only) in Euros or US Dollars using the rate of exchange in place at the time of submission. We recommend that you use registered post.
- Online entries are paid upon submission by way of the PayPal facility provided on the entry form.
- No other form of overseas payment such as bank drafts, coupons, money orders or cheques will be accepted.
- No refunds will be made.
Copyright
Copyright will be retained by the author but the Basil Bunting Poetry Award reserves the non-exclusive right to publish the winning entries, the short-listed entries and the commendations on their website
